ER312 is used for welding of steels such as medium and high carbon steels and dissimilar steel combinations. XTR 312 offers a high tolerance to dilution and therefore particularly suitable for depositing buffer layers prior to surfacing. The deposited weld metal contains ~ 30% delta ferrite in a tough austenitic matrix with high resistance to hot cracking.

APPLICATIONS

XTR 312 is commonly used when the welder does not know the steel they are welding on and difficult to-weld steels like manganese steels, most air-hardening steels, tool and die, and armor. The weld deposits are ductile with good root penetration. Weld deposit work-hardens, providing good wear resistance and high tensile strength
